At SKKU, Designing Trust Alongside AI Intelligence

Park's July talk explored the responsibility that comes with making AI agents socially and emotionally engaging.

Trust deserves as much design attention as intelligence. Chorong Park made that case in a July 20, 2026, talk at Sungkyunkwan University, sharing a reflection on the visit the following month. [1]

Her presentation connected responsible AI with aging, autonomy, and emotional connection. She highlighted future research questions about verbal and nonverbal cues: how an agent communicates, and how those signals shape the trust people place in it. [1]

Hayeon Song and the Human-AI Interaction Lab in the Department of Interaction Science hosted the exchange. Park welcomed the possibility of continuing the work through research connecting South Korea and the United States. [1]

The question linking those interests is not simply whether people like an AI companion. It is whether the interaction helps them understand what to trust, protect their privacy, and remain in control as emotional connections develop. [1]
